Gracious God, Today we wait with great anticipation the best gift we have ever received. The gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. Allow the great joy which fills our hearts today to remain with us throughout the year.
As we accept this gift of unparalleled love remind us there are many who have no relationship with Jesus. The best gifts are shared. In the coming year remind us to share Him with all of those we encounter.
For those who are alone this Christmas, comfort them with the knowledge of your presence in their life. Give us the courage to reach out to those who have little or nothing.
There are many away from loved ones this year who are serving to defend our freedom. Bless them and allow us to acknowledge their sacrifices on our behalf.
For those who are hungry, depressed or unemployed give them hope for better tomorrows. Give us the caring heart to provide comfort to all of those who are less fortunate.
This time of year can be filled with sadness for many. Place joy in their hearts as they recognize your love for them. Give us open hearts to embrace those who mourn or battle personal demons.
We are in troubled times and I pray the coming year will bring new hope and opportunities to those impacted by our current economic condition.
Bless our leaders as they work to find ways of peaceful resolution to conflicts. May we become people of peace and learn to resolve our differences in nonviolent ways.
As we gaze on the manger, fill us with hope, love and the promises of the cross.
