Today I pray

Heavenly Father, You have allowed us to live in a country with many freedoms. These freedoms and the ideals under which they were founded have been protected by many brave men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice so we can continue to enjoy them.

Today we pause to remember them and pray for those who still serve to protect us. May they be held in your protective embrace. More importantly may we all work towards more non-violent ways to resolve our differences.

Thank you too for this country where we are free to express our opinion and engage in our beliefs where we are free to have differing opinions and still maintain a civil society. Grant us peace. Amen

Today I pray

Gracious God, I come to you today in prayer to thank you for the many blessings you have given to me. For my work and the ability to make an impact on the lives I encounter I thank you.

I also offer a prayer for the family of my friend Andy who died in an accident this week. His kindness and compassion for others will always be remembered. Comfort his family and friends in this time of sorrow. Allow us all to remember the gift he was to each of us and help us to be a reflection of his love in those we encounter.

Allow me to live my life to the full measure of the gifts you have given me and give me the courage to share you with others. I pray all of these things in the name of Jesus. Amen
